We have educated more than 250,000 young people in the world’s most war-striken regions.
Some stand-out facts:
In early 2013 Spirit of Soccer started operations in Zaatari camp in Northern Jordan, working with refugee children displaced by the ongoing civil conflict in neighbouring Syria. Since then we have reached over 18,000 children.
Since 2009 we have delivered programs in Baghdad, Basra and Kirkuk to over 80,000 children, often under heavy shelling. In keeping with our philosophy of local ownership we have trained 18 local Iraqi coaches as MRE instructors, including three women, from across the Arab, Sunni, Shia, Kurdish and Christian communities.
In 2005 we started operations in Battambang province where 450 children a year were being killed by landmines and ERW. Since then over 46,000 children from nearly 250 schools in three of the most heavily mine-polluted provinces in the country have benefitted from our programs.
